Vol. 397 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Kildare National School Enrolment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

115 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if she will meet a deputation from Celbridge, County Kildare, consisting of representatives of parents whose children cannot gain admission to Aghards national school; if her attention has been drawn to the difficulties which have arisen in the area; if she will consider intervening in an effort to arrive at a compromise solution to the problem; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The position with regard to enrolment policy for Aghards national school was outlined in a written reply (No. 50) to the Deputy on 8 March 1990. The operation and review of the enrolment policy for the national schools in Celbridge is a matter for the local authorities of the schools and the patron. In the circumstances as proposed by the Deputy a meeting would not be appropriate.
