Vol. 397 No. 1

Request to Move Adjournment of Dail under Standing Order 30.

Before proceeding to the Order of Business, I have notice from Deputy Dick Spring that he seeks leave to move a motion under Standing Order 30. Will Deputy Spring please state the matter.

In accordance with Standing Order 30, I wish to give notice of my intention to move the Adjournment of the Dáil at the start of business to discuss a specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, namely that this House is concerned at the implications for the Anglo-Irish Agreement and for Anglo-Irish relations generally arising from the Supreme Court's extradition decision of yesterday's date and calls on the Government to state their intentions in relation to future extradition arrangements, having regard to the need for an efficient arrangement which continues to protect the basic rights of all citizens.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider that it is one contemplated by Standing Order 30 and I cannot, therefore, grant leave to move the motion.
