Vol. 397 No. 4

Written Answers. - Concessionary Teacher Applications.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Question:

75 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Education the number of applications she has received for concessionary teachers in disadvantaged areas of Dublin city; when such teachers will be appointed; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

There are currently applications from 16 schools in the Dublin city area for inclusion in my Department's special scheme of teaching assistance for schools serving disadvantaged areas.

As the Deputy is aware, 95 additional posts were sanctioned recently under this special scheme. There are no plans at present to allocate additional posts to schools serving disadvantaged areas.
