Written Answers. - County Offaly Schools.

Tom Enright

Question:

155 Mr. Enright asked the Minister for Education if, in view of her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 116 of 14 February 1990, she will arrange to meet a deputation from Crinkle national school, Birr, County Offaly at an early date; and when she will meet the deputation.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

156 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Education, in view of the very poor conditions which exist at Crinkle national school, County Offaly, if she will outline her intentions for the proposed extension and renovation of the premises.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 155 and 156 together.

As the Deputies will be aware I recently sanctioned the provision of an extension to Crinkle national school, County Offaly.

My Department's architectural staff will now be preparing full working drawings for the extension so that the project can proceed.

I have also agreed to meet a deputation regarding the building project on 31 March next.

Tom Enright

Question:

157 Mr. Enright asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the urgent need for additional accommodation at Scoil Mhuire national school, Tullamore, County Offaly, in particular, the need to replace the two pre-fabricated buildings where the special class and the handicapped children's class are located; the additional accommodation which will be provided at the school; and when this will be provided.

I am aware of the situation at Scoil Mhuire national school, Tullamore, County Offaly. My Department's primary buildings branch are currently examining the question of additional accommodation and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible.
