Vol. 397 No. 7

Written Answers. - Occupational Pension Schemes.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

33 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Social Welfare when the pension legislation which he promised last month will be published; if he will outline its main provisions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My proposals for the regulation of occupational pension schemes take account of the recommendations in the first and fourth reports of the National Pensions Board and consultation with all the interested parties involved in pensions including the social partners. It is my intention to publish the Pensions Bill and have it circulated during the recess, so that it can be taken in the next session.

This new legislation will be designed to protect the interest of members of occupational pension schemes and to provide for equal treatment.
