Vol. 397 No. 10

Written Answers. - Housing Legislation.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

26 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment if he has had time to consider his position in relation to regulations which he could bring forward under the 1982 housing legislation which would enable tenants in private rented accommodation to obtain, as a right, a rent book from their landlord; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Landlords of formerly controlled rented dwellings must, under the Housing (Private Rented Dwellings) Regulations, 1982, provide their tenants with rent books. The question of extending this requirement to all private rented dwellings is being considered in the context of a general review of the private rented sector.
