Question:

43 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money allocated to Cork Corporation in each year since 1980 for the maintenance of minor roads.

State road grant funding for the maintenance of non-national roads in urban areas is available under the annual block grant for roads paid by my Department. The grant supplements the provisions made from the local authorities' own resources towards their programmes for the improvement, maintenance and management of these roads for which they are statutorily responsible. The following are the grant payments under this heading to Cork Corporation for each of the years 1980 to 1989, and the block grant allocation to the local authority for 1990:
