Vol. 398 No. 1

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Services.

Austin Currie

Question:

193 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin 15, who is in need of speech therapy, was referred from Temple Street Children's Hospital to Castleknock because she was outside the catchment area when there has not been a speech therapist at Castleknock since last year; the action he intends to take to ensure that this child receives therapy; when a speech therapist will be provided at Castleknock; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of speech therapy services in the case in question is a matter for the Eastern Health Board. Accordingly, I have referred the Deputy's question to the Chief Executive Officer, Eastern Health Board, with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
