Vol. 398 No. 4

Written Answers. - Belfast Prison Conditions.

Tony Gregory

Question:

53 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the serious concern among relatives of republican prisoners in Crumlin Road Prison, Belfast, that the policy of forced integration with loyalist prisoners constitutes a threat both to the prisoners' lives and the safety of their families; if he will raise this issue through the Anglo-Irish Conference; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I can assure the Deputy that the situation within Crumlin Road prison is being closely monitored. The matter has also been discussed within the framework of the Anglo-Irish Conference.
