Vol. 398 No. 4

Written Answers. - Birmingham Six.

Tony Gregory

Question:

57 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the case of the Birmingham Six was raised at the recent meeting of the Anglo-Irish Conference; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Birmingham Six case was not raised at the meeting in question as it falls more properly within the scope of bilateral contacts with Great Britain. At the same time, the forum of the Anglo-Irish Conference has on occasion been availed of to reinforce the Government's concern in relation to cases such as that of the Birmingham Six, and to sensitise the British co-chairman of the conference to these concerns.
