Vol. 398 No. 5

Written Answers. - Palestine Liberation Organisation Representative.

Joe Sherlock

Question:

26 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if, in relation to the announcement made during his visit to Tunisia in November 1989 that the Palestine Liberation Organisation planned to open an office in Dublin and appoint an official representative to this country and his statement that the application would be dealt with, he will outline the present position regarding this proposal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The position remains as the Taoiseach outlined it to the Dáil on 23 November 1989. The matter of the appointment of a Palestinian official who would not have diplomatic status to the Palestine Information Office in Dublin, which is a private office, is under review.
