Written Answers. - UCC Fee Levels.

Frank Crowley

Question:

72 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Education if she will freeze all fee increases and fee proposals in University College, Cork until an urgent review of university funding is undertaken; when she expects to have a response to the Higher Education Authority proposals; if she is prepared to assess areas within universities where finance and personnel could be more beneficially utilised; and if she will set up a committee to draw up a five year developmenmt plan for University College, Cork to meet the challenge of the 1990s.

Fee levels in University College, Cork and development plans for the college are matters for the governing body of the college.

In the context of funding arrangements for the university sector generally, a review of mechanisms and controls for university funding is currently in progress.
