76 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the number of trans-Atlantic charter flights which landed at Dublin Airport in the years 1985 to 1989 inclusive; and also the number of flights which flew into Dublin directly from the United States in this period.
The number of trans-Atlantic charter flights (from the United States and Canada) which operated to Dublin Airport during the period 1985 to 1989 was as follows:

77 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the number of American tourists visiting Europe each year since 1985; and the number who came through Shannon Airport in this period.
While there is no precise data available on the number of American visitors who come through Shannon, as opposed to those who disembark at Shannon, I have set out in the following tabular statement statistics produced by the US Department of Transportation, Immigration and Naturalisation Service on US citizens visiting Europe and those departing on the US-Ireland air routes since 1985.
