Vol. 398 No. 8
153 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health when he will sanction the appointment of an audiologist for the South Infirmary, Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Audiology services in the Southern Health Board area are at present located at St. Finbarr's Hospital. The Southern Health Board and the South Infirmary-Victoria Hospital will presently have discussions on the possible transfer of the audiology service to the ENT Unit at the South Infirmary-Victoria Hospital.
Current personnel policy within the health services gives agencies the autonomy to make necessary appointments within approved employment ceilings and financial allocation. In this context, and following agreement on the location of the service, the appointment of an audiologist will be a matter for the relevant authority.
