Vol. 398 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Dublin Nature Reserve.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Question:

75 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Finance if there are any proposals from the Director of Wildlife Services in the Office of Public Works regarding Baldoyle Estuary Nature Reserve, County Dublin; when it is proposed to carry out such work in the reserve; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Baldoyle estuary was created a nature reserve under the Wildlife Act, 1976, on 21 September 1988 because of its importance for Brent Geese.

Regulations under section 59 of the Wildlife Act, 1976, are being prepared in respect of this and other nature reserves. In the case of Baldoyle estuary, these regulations will regulate any practices which could affect the habitat of the geese.
