Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Coal Prices.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

136 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Energy if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there are substantial differences in the price of coal between Drogheda, County Louth and Dublin (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter.

While I accept the Deputy's point that price differentials may exist between Drogheda and Dublin, in the absence of any formal price control mechanism on coal, market prices will prevail. Price control comes under the aegis of my colleague, the Minister for Industry and Commerce.
