Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - State Examinations Timetable.

Paul McGrath

Question:

222 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education if, in scheduling State examinations for 14 June 1990, a Church holiday, she consulted with the teachers unions, boards of management of the schools involved and the parents councils to obtain agreement for this unprecedented schedule.

Every year the draft timetable for the following year's certificate examinations is forwarded to the managerial bodies and the teachers unions for their observations before it is finalised. This procedure was followed in the case of the timetable for 1990 and no objections were raised to the holding of examinations on June 14.
