Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Access Facilities for Disabled Persons.

John Bruton

Question:

74 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will list the offices used by his Department to which easy access by means of ramps and lifts does not exist for those using wheelchairs; the services provided in these offices; and the plans to improve access.

The Passport Office in Cork occupies a small area of rented accommodation in an office building, which has a lift but not a ramp. The provision of a ramp would be a matter for the owners of the building. I intend to ask the owners if they have any current plans to improve facilities to take account of the access requirements of disabled persons.

There is a ramp at the rear of the Iveagh House complex. I am investigating the feasibility of installing a lift in the complex.
