Vol. 399 No. 2

Written Answers. - Geological Survey.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

75 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Energy if he has any plans for the development of the geological survey in 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have just recently appointed an assistant secretary with responsibility for overall policy formulation and direction of the activities of the Geological Survey. One of the immediate tasks is an updating of the role of the Geological Survey to provide a clear and succinct focus for the survey in the medium terms. At this stage it is too soon to say what developments will arise from this review.
