Vol. 399 No. 5

Written Answers. - Celbridge, Kildare, School Project.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

84 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if the extra facilities required at St. Wolstans Holy Faith secondary school, Celbridge, County Kildare will be provided in time for the next school year; if she will outline the total facilities now being provided; the proposed completion date for the works; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I would like to inform the Deputy that all projects in my Department's second level building programme are subject to a critical review in the light of all relevant factors, including the most up-to-date statistical data and demographic indicators.

Such a review is now taking place in the case of St. Wolstans, Celbridge and it will be completed shortly. Pending the outcome of that review and discussion with the school authority it would be inappropriate to detail the range of new permanent accommodation that might be provided at the school. In the circumstances it is not possible at this stage to indicate a completion date for the works.
In the meantime my Department will be pleased to consider any application made by the school authority for temporary accommodation to meet increased enrolments.
