Vol. 399 No. 10

Written Answers. - Temple Street Hospital.

Ivor Callely

Question:

135 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health if he will outline his proposals for the future of the Temple Street Hospital, Dublin 1; and the budget provision which has been made for the years 1990 to 1995.

It is envisaged that new accommodation for the Children's Hospital will be provided on the Mater Hospital campus. The future arrangements for the governance and management of the Mater and Temple Street Hospitals are matters which are at present under discussion between the Irish Sisters of Charity and the Sisters of Mercy. I am still awaiting the outcome of these discussions.

Allocations for health agencies are decided on a yearly basis. The 1990 allocation in respect of the Children's Hospital, Temple Street, is £8.5 million. The original 1989 allocation for the hospital was £7.7 million.
