Vol. 399 No. 11

Written Answers. - Severance Payments.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

31 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Defence the arrangements he intends to make for provision of severance payments for (a) FCA personnel who served full-time security duty but who retired from such duty prior to 1 January 1989 and (b) the widows of personnel who died prior to 1 January 1989; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Arrangements are being made for the payment, on an ex-gratia basis, of gratuities to personnel who, for reasons of age or for medical reasons, retired or were discharged and to the widows of personnel who died while serving on fulltime security duty. Except in the cases of widows a minimum service requirement will apply.
