Vol. 399 No. 11

Written Answers. - Bantry Hospital Geriatric Ward.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

75 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Health when the new geriatric ward in Bantry County Hospital, County Cork will be opened for the admission of patients; and if he will make a statement on the delay of over one year in the opening of same.

As the Deputy is aware the organisation of hospital services for the elderly in the Cork area is a matter primarily for the Southern Health Board. However, I understand from inquiries made with the board that the necessary arrangements for the opening of the geriatric ward are being finalised. I will communicate further with the Deputy on the matter.
