Question:101 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Justice the number of Garda Síochána in the force for each of the years from 1986 to 1990 inclusive.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 99 and 101 together.
Details of the overall strength of the Garda Síochána and of the strength assigned to stations in Cork city and county on 31 December in each of the years 1986 to 1989 and on 31 May 1990 are set out in the table below.

In addition, 82 Garda trainees became full members of the Force on 1 June 1990. A further 434 are in training at present, of whom 170 are due to be attested to the Force this year.
