56 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Energy if his Department will be represented at the forthcoming conference in Liverpool, organised by CORE, regarding the proposed developments of the THORP plant at Sellafield; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Information about the conference referred to has just been received in my Department. The Government's concerns about expanded reprocessing at Sellafield, including this operation of the THORP plant, have repeatedly been conveyed directly to the British Government.In the light of this further representations through the medium of the proposed conference would not be appropriate.
