Vol. 401 No. 1

Written Answers. - Civil Servants' Pensions.

Dermot Fitzpatrick

Question:

42 Dr. Fitzpatrick asked the Minister for Finance the number of retired civil servants with annual pensions of (1) under £3,000 (2) between £3,000 and £5,000 (3) between £5,000 and £6,500 (4) between £6,500 and £8,000 (5) between £8,000 and £10,000 (6) between £10,000 and £13,000 (7) between £13,000 and £15,000 (8) between £15,000 and £16,000 and (9) over £16,000.

The required service for maximum pension is 40 years. Not all retirees, particularly those from the unestablished grades have full service. Unestablished retirees, who comprise over 90 per cent of the total number in Category 1, are also in receipt of the contributory social welfare old age pension.
