Vol. 401 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

Dick Roche

Question:

198 Mr. Roche asked the Minister for Education if she will have the outstanding moneys due in respect of work carried out at a school (details supplied) in Ennis kerry, County Wicklow paid as a matter of urgency; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The chairperson of the board of management of the national school in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, referred to by the Deputy proceeded with the works without the approval of my Department and did not comply with the tendering and other procedures specified in the rules for national schools.

The question of payment of an appropriate grant in the circumstances outlined is being considered having regard to my Department's architect's assessment of the value of the works completed and the extent of any insurance compensation payable to the school authorities.
However in the circumstances outlined I will arrange for urgent consideration to be given to this case. I will be in touch with the Deputy shortly.
