Vol. 402 No. 1

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Paul Bradford

Question:

94 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Finance if he will decentralise a Government office to Mallow, County Cork in the next stage of the Government's decentralisation programme, in view of the town's central situation in Munster and it's excellent road, rail and telecommunications network.

As the Deputy may be aware, earlier in the year the Government announced their decision to extend the decentralisation programme to five additional centres throughout the country.

I regret to inform the Deputy that Mallow, County Cork, was not amongst the centres chosen in this extension to the programme from the many locations considered. However, I am pleased to say that County Cork itself is benefiting from the extension through the inclusion of Cork city.
