Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - Leixlip Town Clerk.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

159 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment (a) the reason the town clerk of Leixlip Town Commissioners is employed on a part-time basis, even though Leixlip has the most town commissioners in the country by reference to population, (b) the other town commissionership which have part-time town clerks and (c) when he intends to employ a full-time town clerk for Leixlip.

The part-time office of town clerk to Leixlip Town Commissioners was sanctioned following a proposal by the local authority. A decision on a subsequent proposal to create a full-time office has been deferred pending the outcome of the current review of the organisation of local government. All town commissioners have part-time town clerks.
