Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Kerry Pier Remedial Works.

Dick Spring

Question:

21 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for the Marine the reason he did not give a 75 per cent grant to Kerry County Council for remedial works at Reenard Pier, County Kerry.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

44 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for the Marine if, in view of the damage to the commercial tourism interests in Caherciveen, County Kerry, as a result of the continuing closure of Reenard Pier, he will make the additional finance available so that Kerry County Council can undertake the repair, work without further delay.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 21 and 44 together.

My Department have offered Kerry County council a grant of £75,000, which is 50 per cent of the estimated cost of repairs at Reenard and this offer has been accepted by the council. The arrangements for undertaking the works are being pursued with Kerry County Council.
