Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - Arbour Hill Site Transfer.

Tony Gregory

Question:

52 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Defence the reason for the prolonged delay in the transfer of the site at the former married quarters, Arbour Hill, Dublin 7 from the Department of Defence to Dublin Corporation; and if this can be expedited as the site is a serious nuisance, is badly lit and badly maintained; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The site in question was transferred to Dublin Corporation on 17 August 1990. The corporation was allowed by the Department of Defence into possession of the site on 14 June 1988 under a caretaker's agreement. Agreement had been reached in 1985 to transfer the State's interest in the site to the corporation but due to reservations which the corporation had in relation to the title, which was vested in the Minister for Finance, the legal formalities were not completed earlier.
