Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - Judicial Appointment Procedures.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

66 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the procedures for making judicial appointments; and if he has any proposals for a change in these procedures.

Judicial appointments are made by the President on the advice of the Government.

As of now, I have no proposals for a change in these procedures. I should make the point, however, that it would be inapproriate for me to announce details of any such proposals that I might have before first having consulted and obtained Government approval for them.
