46 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has raised, under the Anglo-Irish Agreement, the possibility of RTE Radio and Television signals and Century Radio signals being retransmitted so as to be receivable throughout Northern Ireland; and, if not, if he will now place this matter on the agenda for an early meeting of the Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental Council.
This matter has been on the agenda of the co-ordinating committee of the Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental Council (AIIC) since 1984, where our views on the importance of improving reception in Northern Ireland from this jurisdiction are actively pursued with the British authorities.
Given that the matter is under consideration within the AIIC, it is not my intention at present to raise it in the context of the Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental Conference.
