Vol. 403 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) New Hospital.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

78 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Health if he has yet concluded his discussions with the representatives of the Meath Hospital, Dublin 8, Adelaide Hospital, Dublin 8, and National Children's Hospital, Dublin 2, regarding the form of management of the new Tallaght Hospital, Dublin 24; if any decision has yet been reached; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following my statement in the Seanad on 31 May 1990 on the management of the new Tallaght Hospital and the role of the Adelaide Hospital in it, I met with representatives of the three hospitals concerned — the Meath, the Adelaide and the National Childrens' Hospitals. At my suggestion the hospitals agreed to the establishment of a working group comprising two representatives of each of the hospitals under an independent chairman to consider management options for the new hospital. The group has not yet submitted its report to me on the outcome of its deliberations.
