Vol. 403 No. 4

Written Answers. - Donegal Sewage Treatment Plant.

Patrick D. Harte

Question:

199 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the length of time it has taken to try to work out a solution to meet the needs of people living at Lisfannon Heights, Fahan, County Donegal, he will make a special grant available for a sewage treatment plant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are no proposals with my Department to provide a sewage treatment plant at Lisfannan, Fahan, County Donegal. However, a preliminary report for stage 5 of the Buncrana sewerage scheme has been submitted to my Department by Buncrana Urban District Council and is under consideration at present. This scheme provides for the extension of the existing Buncrana sewerage system to serve a number of areas, including Lisfannon. As the proposed scheme is only in the early stages of planning the question of providing funds for the work does not arise.
