Written Answers. - Shooting Lettings.

Enda Kenny

Question:

50 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline, in relation to shooting lettings by the Irish Land Commission in County Mayo, the name, location and area of each such letting; the present position in relation to the renewal of lettings in each case; the method adopted; and if he will make a statement on future policy in this regard.

Enda Kenny

Question:

51 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance if shooting lettings by the Irish Land Commission and under his Department are treated in the same manner as lettings under the responsibility of Coillte Teoranta; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 50 and 51 together.

The Wildlife Service of the Office of Public Works have informed me that the information requested is not readily available at short notice in the format sought given the limited resources available. Lettings are at present renewed on an annual basis with existing holders.

The Wildlife Service propose to review the operation of lettings formerly held by the Irish Land Commission and which they now hold. Pending this review I am not in a position to state whether the lettings will be treated in the same manner as lettings under the responsibility of Coillte Teoranta.
