Vol. 403 No. 6

Written Answers. - Charter of Paris.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

12 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government intend to take any steps to promote greater knowledge and understanding among the Irish people of the Charter of Paris adopted at the recent meeting of the CSCE; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to the statement on the CSCE Summit meeting in Paris by the Taoiseach made to the House on 28 November. In this statement the Taoiseach indicated that arrangements are being made for the publication of the Charter of Paris for a New Europe so that it may be made known as widely as possible in this country. Once it has been published, I will arrange for it to receive similar distribution to that given to other major CSCE documents such as the Helsinki Final Act and the Vienna Concluding Document.
