Vol. 403 No. 8

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Mary Wallace, the matter of Ashbourne second level school and the sanctioning of stage five of the building of same; (2) Deputy McGahon, the reason permission was refused to a prisoner in Portlaoise prison to attend his mother's funeral; (3) Deputy Gerry Reynolds, the progress that has been made through the Anglo-Irish Agreement for the opening of cross-Border roads between Leitrim and Northern Ireland; (4) Deputy Carey, the matter of the Department of Social Welfare inspectors who are diligently applying the regulations when reviewing long term unemployment recipients particularly with regard to the not genuinely seeking employment clause; (5) Deputy Coughlan, the inconvenience caused to the people of Donegal due to the closure of a number of Border crossings in County Fermanagh during the hours of darkness; and (6) Deputy Therese Ahearn, the appalling conditions applying at the Garda station in Carrick-on-Suir in which members of the force are compelled to work.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: Deputies Therese Ahearn, Carey and Mary Wallace.
