Vol. 403 No. 8

Written Answers. - Third Level Education.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

56 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Finance if he will give consideration to granting a special tax relief to parents in lieu of fees paid for a member or members of their families attending third level education where the family is not in receipt of an European Social Fund grant.

I have no plans to introduce such a relief. I would point out that students, including those not in receipt of a European Social Fund grant, already benefit from the high level of State expenditure on education; in addition, some students benefit from the availability of tax relief on convenants.
