Vol. 403 No. 8

Written Answers. - Ordnance Survey Regional Office.

Michael Noonan

Question:

60 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the proposed location of a regional office of the ordnance survey in Ennis, County Clare, rather than in Limerick; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The following locations were selected for the regional offices: Cork; Ennis; Kilkenny; Longford; Sligo; Tuam.

The choice of these locations was influenced by the following factors: the advice of the Office of Public Works as to the availability of office accommodation; the existing distribution of the field staff; the survey's work programme; the equitable distribution of staff in accordance with the Government's programme for the establishment of Civil Service offices in rural locations.
