Written Answers. - Leaving Certificate Mathematics Syllabus.

Question:

361 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education if she will outline the steps taken by (1) herself and (2) the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment to provide supporting documentation, teaching notes, worksheets and sample papers for the ordinary alternative mathematics leaving certificate syllabus, since the necessity for such support arises out of her decision to permit this syllabus to run for one cycle only with the result that publishers are not producing text books for this course.

I have requested the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment to prepare teaching materials for the course in general but especially for those parts of the course which are not dealt with in the textbooks at present for the ordinary level. My Department will issue sample papers well before the examination in 1992.
