Vol. 404 No. 1

Written Answers. - Briefing by Ryanair.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

367 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if he met with officials of Ryanair on 10 December 1990; if the meeting was arranged to get his support for a major co-operation agreement planned between Ryanair and British Airways; whether he gave his full support for (a) the co-operation arrangements and (b) that the contract held by Aer Lingus, worth several millions of pounds per annum in revenue to the national airline, has been given to Ryanair who will now act as British Airways' handling agents at Dublin Airport; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I met with representatives of Ryanair at their request on 10 December 1990. They briefed me on the current state of their operations and on a range of options they were considering for the future development of their airline. The briefing given to me by Ryanair was confidential as are similar briefings which I receive from Aer Lingus.
