Vol. 404 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ballinskellings (Kerry) Castle Protection Work.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

47 Mr. Moynihan asked the Taoiseach if funds can be made available from the national lottery to enable urgent protection work on old McCarty Castle, Ballinskellings Bay, County Kerry, to be undertaken without delay.

The National Heritage Council have the task of distributing, subject to my approval, national lottery funds to heritage projects in the areas of archaeology, architecture, flora, fauna, heritage gardens and inland waterways.

Those concerned with the works on this castle might accordingly make application for assistance to the council.

All applications are considered on their own merits by the council who have complete independence in deciding on the priorities for grant assistance and the amount, if any, in each case. Application forms are available from the Secretary, National Heritage Council, Department of the Taoiseach, Dublin 2.
