Vol. 404 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take No. 1. It is also proposed, subject to the agreement of the House, that the following arrangements shall apply for the debate on No. 1: (a) the speech of the spokesperson for each of the groups shall not exceed 30 minutes; (b) the speech of any other member shall not exceed 20 minutes; and (c) the Minister for Foreign Affairs shall be called on not later than 3.30 p.m. to make the concluding speech which shall not exceed 30 minutes.

May I now ask if the proposal for dealing with motion No. 1 is agreed? Agreed.

On the Order of Business may I ask the Taoiseach a question——

——with regard to future sittings?

The Deputy will be able to make his contribution in the normal way later. I call on the Taoiseach now to move the motion.

On a point of order——

Please Deputy.

On a point of order, if you do not mind.

Let us hear this. It is a spurious point of order, I am sure.

I was hoping we could deal with this matter in a reasonable, rational way rather than being accused of raising spurious questions which you have not yet heard.

Deputy De Rossa has tried that ploy before.

On the Order of Business — we are on the Order of Business — I am simply seeking information from the Taoiseach with regard to whether he intends to call the House into session next week in view of the fact that this war is likely to continue for a considerable time.

A Deputy

Deputy De Rossa will be in Europe.

With respect, try to treat this matter seriously.
