Vol. 404 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Liam Aylward

Question:

205 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange payment of a suckler cow grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

Payments to this applicant under the 1990 suckler cow premium and beef cow and equines headage schemes have already been made.

His payment under the special beef premium is being processed and will issue shortly.

Frank Crowley

Question:

206 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a headage and beef scheme grant will be approved and issued to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person named has already been paid his grants under the 1990 cattle and equines headage and special beef premium schemes.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

207 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the allocation of £5 million for headage grants was not paid to farmers in 1990 in order to maintain the national Exchequer contributions at their 1989 level; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The net national Exchequer contribution to Ireland's disadvantaged areas schemes was £41.3 million in 1990 as compared to £29.6 million in 1989. I do not, therefore, understand the Deputy's question.
