Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing Allocations.

Question:

320 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment the moneys which have been allocated in each year since the enactment of the Housing Act, 1988 under section 10 of the Act; the amount of the allocation which was spent in each of these years; and the local authorities which applied for funding under section 10.

The amounts provided for the making of recoupments to housing authorities under section 10 of the Housing Act, 1988 in 1988, 1989 and 1990 were £400,000, £500,000 and £600,000, respectively. The total amounts expended from these provisions were £7,473.60 and £115,220.10 in 1989 and 1990, respectively. There was no expenditure in 1988 as section 10 was not brought into operation until 1 January, 1989.

Applications for recoupment were received from the following housing authorities: Carlow County Council, Donegal County Council, Kilkenny County Council, Laois County Council, Limerick County Council, Longford County Council, Roscommon County Council, Tipperary SR County Council, Wexford County Council, Cork Corporation, Galway Corporation, Limerick Corporation, Waterford Corporation, Buncrana UDC, Bundoran UDC, Letterkenny UDC, Sligo Corporation, Tralee UDC, Westport UDC, Youghal UDC.
