Vol. 404 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

368 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if an increase in the higher education grant is payable to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

It is understood from Kildare County Council, the body statutorily entrusted with administration of the scheme in the candidates area, that the reckonable income in her case, with two dependent children in the family, rendered her eligible to receive payment of a grant of ¼ lecture fees in the 1989-90 academic year.

It is also understood from Kildare County Council that a review of the reckonable income, in respect of the 1990-91 academic year does not warrant an increase in the level of grant payable in respect of the student's attendance at a third-level college.
