Vol. 404 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.

I want to protest that only two of my four priority questions were allowed.

Please, Deputy.

I will not upset your ruling.

You will not upset my ruling.

My questions were put down in the context of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress and they have nothing to do with the budget.

I will not allow my ruling to be questioned in this fashion.

I am asking you to look at that again because I am very disappointed.

I have ruled in accordance with precedent in respect of the matter the Deputy refers to. I have nothing to look into.

It seems that the Minister was not allowed to answer the questions.

Deputy, please desist. Question No. 1 is to the Minister for Social Welfare in the name of Deputy Emmet Stagg. The questions we are embarking upon are questions nominated for priority, to which a rigid time limit of 15 minutes applies under the Standing Orders of this House.

I must say to Deputy Conaughton that I was disappointed too because I had done the work on the questions concerned. They vanished because of the rules of the House.
