Vol. 404 No. 8

Written Answers. - Public Liability Insurance.

Paul Bradford

Question:

100 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the difficulty faced by community organisations in obtaining public liability insurance for community alert signs; and if, in view of the tremendous assistance given by the community alert programme, he will request the local authorities or the Garda to assume responsibility for provision of the relevant insurance cover.

I understand from the Garda authorities that they are aware that certain issues have arisen in relation to signs for the community alert programme but I am assured by them that this matter is being examined in consultation with officials from Muintir na Tíre.

The Garda authorities and Muintir na Tíre have my full support in the promotion and development of this programme and I am confident that their joint efforts will continue to be successful and to meet with a positive response from the community.
