Vol. 404 No. 8

Written Answers. - Driving Tests.

Ivor Callely

Question:

108 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to introduce regulations for driving test applicants to attend the new skid car centre which teaches corrective techniques to cope with emergency situations such as driving during poor weather conditions, snow, ice and on wet surfaces.

I do not. EC Directive 80/1263/EEC of 4 December 1980 lays down the manoeuvres and traffic behaviour required for the purposes of driving tests carried out in member states of the European Community. Tests conducted in this country comply fully with the directive.
